TRENTON
– Attorney General Peter C. Harvey
and Division of Elections Director Ramon
de la Cruz announced today that, for the
first time, the Division of Elections
is making available via its Web the results
of statewide elections broken down by
municipality.
According to Harvey, the results of the
2003 General Election for New Jersey Senate
and New Jersey Assembly, broken down by
municipality, are now available on the
Division Web site
www.NJElections.org.
In addition to the Senate and Assembly
results, the Web site now also provides
a breakdown by municipality of voting
on the 2003 statewide public questions.
Harvey said results of the June 2004 Primary
Election will be posted on the Web site
by municipality, as will the results of
all future statewide general elections.
“This
is a small but significant step in our
ongoing effort to provide the public with
more detailed information about voting
in New Jersey. We are committed to encouraging
interest in, and participation in, the
democratic process,” said the Attorney
General.
Added Director de la Cruz, “Election
results broken down by municipality are
something that the general public, and
members of the media, have been requesting
for years. Posting these municipality-by-municipality
results is just another way of making
the Division of Elections Web site as
comprehensive, and user-friendly, as possible.”
